Nicole Boothman-Shepard is AECOM’s vice president and senior director for Resilience + Recovery. Boothman-Shepard is passionate about partnering with communities on strategic risk reduction for shocks and stresses and facilitating equitable and transformative community development. She is AECOM’s global advisor on disaster risk reduction, response and long-term community recovery. Boothman-Shepard has facilitated the award of $9.8 billion in federal awards for public sector clients. She advises executives on building and infrastructure investments that leverage multi-generational benefits for social impact, environmental sustainability, and economic opportunity and prosperity. She is sought out for her balanced approach between innovation and risk. She is a Federal Emergency Management Agency Vanguard fellow (2024) and is a contributing author of Climate Change and the Built Environment (American Council of Engineering Companies, or ACEC). She is vice-chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Resilience Section. Prior to joining the private sector, Boothman-Shepard was executive director of Rhode Island Service Alliance, administering AmeriCorps and other service and volunteer programs and awarding grants to approximately 80 nonprofits per year and was concurrently appointed as the state’s Vulnerable Populations coordinator for the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.
