Since joining the UNC Charlotte faculty in fall 2009, Dr. Don Chen has focused his research on improving pavement performance and leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) in design and construction, secured over $2.7 million in external research funding, and published more than 25 journals and conference papers, with a notable accomplishment of six publications in prestigious American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) journals. His influence extends beyond the university. Two of his research projects were selected by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) as exemplary contributions to "Transportation Excellence through Research.” Dr. Chen also serves on the editorial board for two international journals and as Lead Proceedings Editor for international conferences.
