Jonathan Gifford is a professor at George Mason University and the director of the Center for Transportation Public-Private Partnership Policy. His research focuses on the delivery of infrastructure facilities and services. The Center’s focus is helping governments and the private sector identify and evaluate options for delivering facilities and infrastructure-based services.
His work has examined the opportunities and challenges of incorporating emerging technologies in infrastructure delivery and services, including standards, institutional capacity, policy, regulation, and implementation. The public-private partnership (P3) model has been a particular focus with its broad applicability across a range of asset and service classes, including vertical structures like airport terminals, parking, public buildings, and university campuses, as well as linear transportation facilities such as highways and public transit.
He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and his B.S. in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
