Dr. Shawn D. Wilson has recently joined WSP as the National Agency Coordination Leader for Transportation and Infrastructure. Previously, he served as the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development, where he managed over $10 billion, delivered the state’s first transportation Public Private Partnership, and secured new recurring revenue. Notably, he was the first African American President of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, where he championed equity in transportation policies and the implementation of bipartisan infrastructure laws.
He has held leadership positions as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development where he has excelled in budget management, successfully managing over $10B over the course of his career. He delivered the state’s first transportation Public Private Partnership ushered the state’s largest, multi-billion dollar P3 on the interstate, and secured new recurring revenue for the department.
In 2016, he was the first African American to be the President of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials in his 107-year life. During his role as AASHTO President, he developed policy initiatives aimed at achieving equity in delivering transportation policies and ensuring the implementation of bipartisan infrastructure law, resulting in the first 6 DOTs to sign on the Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP).
