Vidhu Shekhar is the government strategy leader for U.S. state and local government at Microsoft, where he drives digital transformation through cloud and AI technologies. With experience across government agencies, consulting firms and enterprise organizations, he brings expertise in policy, urban planning and technology. Originally from Jamshedpur, India, Shekhar earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a master’s degree in public administration from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. His early roles included work at Foothill Transit, Los Angeles World Airports and the L.A. District Attorney’s Office, where he led modernization efforts. He later worked at KPMG, where he advised on governance and program management for large-scale public sector projects. At Microsoft, Shekhar champions ethical AI and authored Generative Artificial Intelligence Use Cases in State & Local Government. He serves on the boards of the Sacramento Children’s Home and USC’s Sacramento Center, reflecting his commitment to community engagement and responsible innovation.
